A site was secured in March 1964 in Francisco Street Belmont, W.A.
David Cooper designed a 60 square building on the one acre block, the builder R.B. Godridge and Co was awarded the contract on 10 April. On 7 June John Dowden, who had been with Pinckney, was appointed manager, Alan Pitman assembled the machinery at Kensington, and a large transport with the machines aboard rolled into Belmont on 31 July.
On 4 August the first cans “Made in Western Australia” were produced. It was a remarkable start, for among other innovations, it produced Australia’s first welded side seam can, using the Soudronic Welding process.
