In June 1966, canmaking commenced at Rocklea (Qld), the new NCI Packaging plant servicing Queensland.

Rocklea is about 13km from the Brisbane city centre. The Queensland capital is a fast growing city with a population of over 2.28 million (2016). Along with the increasing northward movement both of people and business there has been an ever-growing demand for goods and services.

The decision was made to establish a National Can plant in the Brisbane area, to allow us to conveniently service Queensland customers and establish services close to their plants.
