NCI had been a public company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange for 28 years.
The Tyrrell family had always opposed the company going public. Its hand had been forced. In 2003 an attempt was made to bring back its private status. After a prolonged battle the move was thwarted by a competitor who held shares (12.5%) in NCI.
On 8 June 2012, after a long and protracted struggle, Michael Tyrrell was successful and NCI became a privately owned company again.
